Project Objectives

When A. Fattorini approached us to assist with the design and art direction of their annual winter brochure, they specified that they would like it to have a contemporary and different feel from previous years. They asked us to develop a concept that would showcase their jewellery collection.

As an aid to sell their jewellery in the run up to Christmas, the brochure needed to be a compact A5 size, with each collection clearly defined for their customers to browse and consider prior to purchase.

Our Work

We developed a winter ice concept for the brochure which would both enhance the jewellery and support the winter theme. We worked with Timm Cleasby Photography to produce a set of quality photographs for use in the brochure and then prepared a print-ready design layout. As the brochure had a winter theme instead of a specific focus on Christmas, the team at A. Fattorini found that they were able to use it for a longer period of time which has been an advantage.

Each spread was set up meticulously as a mini scene to capture the exact shadows and feel we wanted to achieve. We even made the “fake” ice using melted down wedding crystals to get the right effect.

We developed a series of close-up shots of stunning jewellery to use on the inside back and front pages of the brochure.

Winter brochure the year after — A. Fattorini asked us back the after to create another Winter brochure, and this time we followed a theme of using paper in creative ways.

We alternated the spreads between dark and light to create an interesting contrast throughout the brochure. The ice blocks we created really shone on a dark background.

We ensured the A. Fattorini website was in unison with the launch of the brochure by implementing a digital campaign to support the winter period. Our work with this long established jeweller has enabled them to present their quality, distinct jewellery collection in a contemporary and attractive format.
